Our History

Early Years

Uxbridge Shoes & Shoe Repair first opened in 1975 located at 7 Brock Street West. It would only stay there for four years with the business moving to 36 Brock Street West. Uxbridge Shoes would shift towards the second generation in 1993, when John Rodych took over the shoe store and his brother David taking the shoe repair and separating the business into two different entities.

Uxbridge Shoes from 1993 – 2023

When John took over the shoe side of Uxbridge Shoes & Repair, he focused on bringing in brands and lines that provided support and quality starting initially with Birkenstock and Dr. Martens. Uxbridge Shoes would have to move again due to the Uxbridge Culvert Project and would remain at 54 Brock Street West until we were able to rebuild at 36 Brock Street West. During that time brands like Ecco, Blundstone, Hoka, Brooks and Vionic/Revere would be brought in to have a large variety of footwear that provide arch-support and all-day comfort.

Uxbridge Shoes from 2024 – Our Future

The future of Uxbridge Shoes is bright and exciting as we plan on making significant improvements as we transition back to 36 Brock Street West. Beyond the move, John’s son: Hunter (also made this website) is going to eventually take over the business, allowing it to continue for the third generation of shoe-fitters.

What We Do

At Uxbridge Shoes we carry and sell quality brands and products. As good as a shoe can be though and as many know, if not fitted properly, even the best shoe can feel the worse. That’s why at Uxbridge Shoes we measure to ensure a proper fit and watch people walk (their gait) to determine the best shoe for the way they walk. Our goal is to help people with feet problems like bunions, plantar fasciitis and help reduce strain on hips, knees and back caused by improper footwear. For people with bigger feet we carry up to a men’s 15 2E (and options in a 4E width) and up to a women’s 12 in some shoes (options all the way up to a 2E width.) In most cases, if we don’t have something on the shelf we would be more than happy to order it.
