Keen Hiking, Sandal and Safety (Spring 2025)

We’ve just got in our selection of Keens. For those who haven’t had Keen they fit well for width and have both excellent traction and support. There is some exciting options for both Men’s and Women’s (with pictures at the end.) We did get some kids sandals and have some colours that are carried over from the previous summer. We didn’t pickup the hiking shoe for kids but can always special order it if a waterproof hiking shoe would be better for an outdoor shoe.

Here’s what we got:

Targhee IV WP (MID and Low in both Men’s and Women’s sizes): The Targhee is Keen’s main hiking shoe that has a serious sole for those going through the trails in town or being a bit more adventurous. The mid height gives a good ankle height for protection and support and the lower height is great as an option for those who want the structure of the keen but may not need the coverage.

Leiki (women’s sizes only): The Leiki is a nice lightweight hiking/trail shoe. It uses nylon instead of the leather and both cases are waterproof but the Leiki will has a bit of a softer cushion and be a bit more breathable for the summer.

Hamilton + Camden (men’s Sizes only): The Hamilton and Camden are our primary safety boots from Keen. The difference between them is the height (Hamilton is a 6″ boot whereas Camden is an 8″ boot.) Both use a carbon-fibre toe which keeps the foot well protected while being lightweight and good at temperature regulation. The arch support and structure of either boot is phenomenal and will be good for a variety of trades or situations that need safety.

Newport H2 (men’s and women’s size): The Newport has been a great sandal for us, in general we like the Keen sandals as they offer an option that protects the toe and would be great around water. The Newport uses a toggle for quick adjustment and is durable and the fit of the Newport has been great for width.

Astoria West (women’s only): The Astoria gives a similar idea as the Newport with the main difference being the sole of the shoe being a bit softer but both would work great for long walks (generally it’s more if the colour is nicer or if it fits slightly better to the foot.)

Whisper (women’s only): The Whisper is the third main option we carry for ladies in Keen sandals. What is great about the whisper is it does fit a bit better for people with a slightly more narrow foot, it also looks less sporty than either the Newport or Astoria.

Rose Sandal (women’s only): The final sandal we carry for women’s is the Rose Sandal. What’s great about the rose is that it’s dressier like the whisper and uses a Velcro adjustment instead of the toggle. Overall, all the sandals from Keen has great support and cover the toe but it always will come down to which one fits the best and feels the best.
